GOLF

Islantilla has one of the best golf camps in Andalusia. The Islantilla Golf Resort consists of 27 holes and 3 golf courses and it is surrounded by a great nature and incredible sea views.

Islantilla also has its own Golf Academy with qualified teachers. Its golf course which is used for teaching is one of the biggest and best equipped in Andalusia.

Ruta Colombina (Columbus Route)

La Rábida, Palos de la Frontera, Moguer is a place full of history and it is believed to be the birthplace of the Discovery of America. Here you can visit the Monastery of La Rábida where it is reckoned that the heroic deed began from. You can also see replicas of the ships which were used in crossing the Atlantic. They are all kept in the Pier Las Carabelas after they were rebuilt for an Expo ´92 in Seville.

Parque Nacional de Doñana (National Park of Doñana)

The National Park of Doñana is a part of the World Heritage and it is the only area in Andalusia protected by the institution. It is the largest nature reserve in Europe well known for its aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems (marshes, dunes, beaches).Furthermore the biodiversity in the area is unique and here you are able to see the emblematic Iberian lynx and the imperial eagle which are nowadays endangered animals.

The park is located mainly in the municipality of Almonte. There are two main towns in the area- Acebuche and Acebrón. In Almonte is located the Guadiana River where thousand European and African birds spend their winter periods. Furthermore the area is a breeding point for many birds. This makes the park an ecosystem with a high ecological value for the world.

El Rocío

El Rocio is probably the most important place for pilgrimage in Spain. This small village becomes a faith point every year for people from all over the world to celebrate the pilgrimage to the Virgin of Rocío. The village is located in the heart of Doñana, next to a beautiful lake where you can see wild horses and gaze into the picturesque streets full of white sands.

Cuenca Minera de Riotinto (Mining area of the Red River)

 It is one of the biggest mining areas in Europe. After being into exploitation thousands of years it is nowadays an interesting place to visit where you can see different minerals and spectacular landscapes. In addition tourists can enjoy a century old mine train which is kept here.

Sierra de Aracena

Just an hour away from Islantilla you will find Sierra de Aracena which has one of the most stunning natural landscapes in the area of Huelva. There are many remains of historic fortresses, castles, churches and mosques that you can visit here and it is a great place for hiking. Furthermore it is famous among gastronomic tourists for its Iberian pig, mushrooms, chestnuts and so on.
